Test payer authentication outcomes
Exercise frictionless, challenged, failed and cancelled authentication paths in the sandbox.
Use sandbox credentials
These are documented synthetic test instruments for payer authentication. Do not send them to production. Authentication and payment authorization are separate outcomes.
Exercise the three branches
Run each branch and inspect your authentication callback before submitting the payment. Scenario Visa test number Documented signal Not enrolled 4111111111111111 Enrolled N; attempted; no CAVV Frictionless 4100000000000100 Enrolled Y; verified; mock CAVV Challenge 4100000000005000 PAResStatus C; mock challenge
Complete or abandon the challenge
In the mock challenge, 12345 passes; a different code fails; Cancel produces an incomplete result. Confirm your UI recovers in each case and does not treat cancellation as successful authentication. Store only the outcome data required by your integration.
Other networks and test environments
Use the gateway testing matrix for the published Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover cases. Legacy test-mode payer-auth cards are documented separately; do not substitute one test environment for another. Gateway test modes and network cases Legacy payer-auth test matrix
